| Pfeiffer Cruises Over Bobcats |

| BANNER ELK, NC – The Pfeiffer University Falcons paid a visit to Williams Gymnasium Wednesday evening, emerging with a convincing 91-68 win over the Lees-McRae College Bobcats in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action. Pfeiffer improves to 9-14 (6-10 Conference Carolinas) while Lees-McRae falls to 6-17 (5-12). The Lady Falcons came out flying in the first half with a 7-2 lead in the first two and a half minutes. The Lady Bobcats would claw their way back into the game to cut the deficit to two, 16-14 with 12:06 remaining. After trading baskets, the visitors would take control of things 17-6 run to go up 35-22 with 5:27 to play. With fight still left, the Lady Bobcats would once again try to claw their way back into the contest, however they would come only as close as eight as the Lady Falcons once again would gain the momentum and not look back going into halftime with a sixteen point cushion, 45-29. After conceding the first two field goals of the half, the Lady Falcons picked up where they left off in the first, controlling the play and pace of the game as well as the rebounds. After going up by 20, the Lady Falcons lead would be no smaller than fifteen, occurring on four different occasions with the largest 24, (76-52), at 10:13. Kalee Smith led the Lady Falcons with a game high 22 points. Four other Lady Falcons registered points in double figures as Shanee’ Purnell drained 20, Kendra Rutledge added 11 and Devona Knight and Ashelle Athill each contributed ten. Smith also registered a game high 14 boards 11; on the defensive glass. Pfeiffer will host Coker this Saturday at 5:30 pm. |
