|Pfeiffer Defeats Aiken 3-0|

Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer men's soccer team defeated visiting USC-Aiken 3-0 Saturday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 1-1 with the win while Aiken falls to 0-1. Alex Moreno picked up his first career win and shutout in goal for Pfeiffer while three different Falcons scored in the win.
After a back and forth first ten minutes the Falcons started pressing and it paid off in the 21st minute. Off a scramble off a corner kick Blake Barbee got his first carer goal when he pushed it past the goalie from five yards out.
The Falocns kept on the pressure but couldn't score again and went into halftime leading 1-0.
The Falcons quickly doubled their lead only a little over a minute into the second half when Patrick Treadwell took a pass from Renato Barbosa and slid it past the goalie for a 2-0 Falcon advantage.
Twenty minutes later Matt Mason made it 3-0 with is first goal on the season. Wilver Menacho sent a nice ball through the defense and Mason ran on to it and shot it past the Aiken keeper from 15 yards out.
Aiken turned up their pressure in the last fifteen minutes but the Falcon defense held. In the 76th minute Aiken midfielder Corey Adamson took a croos and volleyed it toward the upper left corner but Falcon Goalkeeper Alex Moreno made a fine diving save.
In the 88th minute Kofi Akyere broke through but Moreno closed to cut off the angle and the shot went just wide. Moreno and the Falcons held on to preserve the shutout.
Pfeiffer will return to action Tuesday when they host Catawba at 4:00 pm.
