|Pfeiffer Defeats Francis Marion 2-1|

|Misenheimer, NC---The Pfeiffer men's soccer team won their fourth game in a row with a 2-1 victory over visiting Francis Marion Sunday afternoon. After giving up a quick goal the Falcons fought their way back and Matt Harris scored another game winner as the Falcons improved to 4-1 on the season. Francis Marion now stands at 1-3. |
Francis Marion came out attacking and scored on a Juan Rivas goal in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Falcons quickly settled down and slowly started to control the flow of the game.
In the 25th minute Wilver Menacho took the ball from 45 yards out on the left and dribbled toward the goal. From about 25 yards he drilled a shot in the right side netting to even the game at 1-1.
The game settled into a defensive battle and neither team had a good scoring chance the rest of the half.
At halftime the score was 1-1.
Pfeiffer controlled play most of the second half.
Cash Knight hit the crossbar in the 55th minute and Matt Harris had a great chance in the 69th minute but the Francis Marion goalkeeper made a great kick save to keep the game tied.
Finally with six minutes to go the Falcon pressure paid off as Wilver Menacho sent a long pass to a breaking Matt Harris who drilled a shot into the top of the goal from 18 yards out to give Pfeiffer a 2-1 lead.
Francis Marion was unable to break through the Pfeiffer defense in the final few minutes and the Falcons won 2-1.
Pfeiffer travels to Limestone next Saturday for a 4:00 pm game.
