|Wilson, NC---Pfeiffer lost to Barton in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action Monday evening by a score of 115-95. The loss broke the Falcons’ six game winning streak and puts Pfeiffer at 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Barton improves to 9-3 and 5-0. |
Josh Roper hit a three-pointer to give the Falcons an early 8-6 lead.
Barton came back and took the lead. Logan Call’s field goal cut the Bulldog lead to three at 18-15 after five minutes.
Barton built their lead to ten at 39-29 but the Falcons pulled off a 6-0 run to cut it to four with 7:08 left.
Barton rebuilt their lead to 51-40 but Pfeiffer ended the half on a 7-2 run, in the last 1:20, to trail by only six, 53-47, at the break.
Barton used a 9-2 run in the first minute and a half of the second half to build a 62-49 lead.
The Falcons fought back and after two straight Quintel Maxwell field goals the Falcons were within five at 76-71 with a little over ten minutes to go.
Jeff Pettiway made two free throws to bring Pfeiffer to within three with 9:29left at 79-76.
This was as close as the Falcons could get as the Bulldogs pulled away at the end to win 115-95.
Pettiway led Pfeiffer with 23 points. Logan Call contributed 19 points and seven rebounds. Bobby Buffaloe had 28 to lead the Bulldogs.
Pfeiffer will return to action Saturday when they host Erskine at 2:00 pm.
