|Pfeiffer Loses Series to Barton|

|Misenheimer, NC---The Pfeiffer baseball team won one of three games from Barton in a Conference Carolinas weekend series. The teams split a double-header Saturday with the Bulldogs (21-22, 7-11) taking game one 4-1 and the Falcons grabbing game two 5-4. The Bulldogs won 12-0 in the single game on Sunday. |
In game one Barton grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an unearned run.
Kevin Oquendo lead off the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 1 all.
Barton quickly regained the lead with two runs in the sixth, both unearned.
Another Barton unearned run in the ninth made the score 4-1 in favor of the Bulldogs.
The Falcons loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but a fly out to center ended the game.
Nick Fogleman pitched a complete for Pfeiffer and picked up the loss despite not giving up an earned run.
The Falcons came back to take game two by a score of 5-4.
Shawn Coke got the Falcons on the board early with a two run single in the first.
Barton scored one in the second and two runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead.
Pfeiffer answered with three runs in the bottom of the third highlighted by Coke's solo home run.
Andrew Oliver came in and pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the save. Adam Sedberry picked up the win for Pfeiffer.
Game three was all Barton.
After a scoreless first three innings the Bulldogs scored four runs in the fourth. They scored in each of the next five innings to win 12-0.
The Falcons had six hits but could not score.
Pfeiffer travels to Mars Hill on Wednesday for a 3:00 pm game.
