|Softball Splits with Conference Foe Coker|

|Misenheimer- The Coker Cobra's jumped out to an early lead in game one plating three runs in the top half of the first inning. Pfeiffer starter Dacia Ijames would settle down and help her own cause as the Falcon's scored twice in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 4-2. A lead off single by Martina Bullard, followed by a double from Ijames and a two RBI single by thrid baseman Jaimee Cassidy brought the team to within striking distance. After a scoreless Coker top of the fourth, freshman Chelsea Morton walked to lead off the bottom of the frame. Morton then stole second base and Tiffany Allen singled, Stephanie Bethea walked and Bullard hit into a fielder's choice plating one run. Ijames then delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game at four. Coker answered with a run in the fith and one more in the sixth to close out the win 6-4. |
Game two turned out different for Falcon fans. After being retired in order the first inning Sophomore shortstop Sarah Moore got things going with a one out single in the bottom of the second. First baseman Jessica Culler sacrificed Moore to second and Junior Stephanie Brandt delivered a two out RBI single to right center field giving Pfeiffer a 1-0 lead. Neither team managed to score a run the next two innings. In the bottom of the fith inning Allen led off with a triple, Bethea flew out and Bullard was hit by a pitch before designated player Dacia Ijames hit a sacrifice fly to center extending the Falcon lead to 2-0. Freshman Chelsea Morton recorded a scoreless sixth and Pfeiffer added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame. Coming to the plate with two outs Morton doubled to left center and Allen delivered an RBI single giving Pfeiffer a 3-0 lead. Coker would threaten in the top of the seventh after a lead off single and a person reaching on a sacrifice bunt, bringing to the plate the tying run. With no outs, Eunice Nettles hit a ground ball which struck the base runner between second and third giving the Falcon's their first out of the inning. Starting pitcher Chelsea Morton then induced a 1-3 ground out before causing Anna Lucas to line out to short. Morton went the distance in the circle giving up 0 runs on 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 6.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Thursday as they host Indiana University of PA. Game time is 2:00.
