|Softball Splits With Fairmont|

|Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer split with Fairmont State Wednesday afternoon in non-conference softball action. Pfeiffer grabbed game one by a score of 3-2 but the Falcons fell in extra innings in game two, losing 5-4. |
Pfeiffer got on the scoreboard first with a run in the bottom of the second. Jaimee Cassidy opened the inning with a double and later scored on a Fairmont error.
Martina Bullard tripled in the third and scored on a passed ball to double the Falcon lead to 2-0.
Fairmont came back with one in the fourth on a Julie triple.
Pfeiffer came right back in the bottom of the fourth and retook a two run lead. Cassidy again opened the inning with a double and later scored on a Stephanie Brandt single.
Fairmont scored one in the top of the fifth but Dacia Ijames took control and got the last eight Fairmont batters out to seal a 3-2 Pfeiffer victory.
Fairmont got on the board in the top of the first off a Highland double.
Sarah Moore opened the bottom of the second with a triple. After an out and a walk Stephanie Brandt and Brittany Lewis each came up with RBI singles to give Pfeiffer a 2-1 advantage.
Both pitchers controlled the middle innings as the game remained 2-1 for Pfeiffer until the top of the sixth when Fairmont tied the game on another Highland RBI double.
Fairmont scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 4-2 lead.
Brandty opened the bottom of the seventh with a single but two outs quickly followed. Brandt scored when Bethea reached on an error and Bethea scored on a Bullard single to send the game into extra innings.
Fairmont scored once in the eighth to regain the lead.
Pfeiffer loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the eighth but could not score and fell 5-4.
Pfeiffer will host St. Augustine on Saturday starting at 2:00 pm.
