| Softball Splits With Queens |

| Charlotte, NC---Pfeiffer split a double-header with Queens in CVAC softball action Monday night. Pfeiffer took the first game 8-4 but the Royals came back to win the second 5-4 in 10 innings. Pfeiffer now stands at 18-19 overall and 6-6 in the conference. Queens is now 12-24 and 8-4. GAME ONE Pfeiffer grabbed a quick 1-0 lead after Brittany Lewis scored on a Queens' error. Queens tied the game at 1 with an unearned run in the bottom of the first. Chelsea Morton hit a home run to lead o0ff the second togive the Falcons a 2-1 lead. Pfeiffer exploded for 4 runs in the third highlighted by RBI doubles from Dacia Ijames and Stephanie Brandt. Queens fought back and closed the gap to 6-4 after five innings. In the ninth Martina Bullard doubled home Stephanie Bethea and Lewis tripled home Bullard to give Pfeiffer a 8-4 lead. Dacia Ijames finished her complete game win with a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to preserve the Falcons 8-4 victory.
GAME TWO Game two started out as a pitcher's duel as neither team threatened in the first three innings. Jaimee Cassidy led off the fourth with a single and came home on a Chelsea morton double. Queens tied the game in the bottom of the sixth at 1. Dacia Ijames doubled home Bullard in the top of the seventh to give Pfeiffer a 2-1 advantage. Queens tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings. Both teams scored one in the ninth and Pfeiffer got one in the top of the tenth but the Royals came back with two in the bottom of the inning to win 5-4.
Pfeiffer will host North Greenville in a double-header Wednesday starting at 2:00 pm. |
