Swimming Loses to Catawba

Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer Men's and Women's swimmers swam well at home on Friday night, despite dropping both meets to Catawba. The women fell 106-61 while the men lost 100-75. Battling through some key injuries the Falcons fought hard but could not pull off the victory.

The Falcon men were hurt by the loss of Vincent Gallegos who will sit out this week with an injury and plays a key role in relays and sprint freestyle events. With both Falcons and Indians fielding small teams and suffering from injury the Pfeiffer women's relay won an uncontested medley, but the Men's medley team of David Angell, Robert Johnson, David Haynes and Brian San Agustin swam a solid race to win against the Catawba men.

Josh Jenkins swam a best time to win the Men's 200 freestyle in a close race and take one of his first college meet individual wins. Meg Toncheff excelled in the 200 IM to win the race for the women, and David Angell took both the 200 IM and 200 backstroke. Alicia Phillips swam a very promising 200 breaststroke to dominate the women's event and David Haynes controlled the 500 freestyle to bring another first in for the Falcons.
