Charlotte, NC---The Pfeiffer University women’s tennis team started the 2007 season with a 9-0 blanking of JC Smith in Charlotte on Thursday. Doubles started strong with the number one team of Andrea Stroup and Patti Dominguez dominating Jennifer Lee and April Lewis with an 8-2 score. Samantha Thomas and Heather Lewis defeated Amber Shoecraft and Brittany Laws by the same score while Pfeiffer’s #3 team picked up a win by default.

Andrea Stroup faced the toughest competition of the match in her singles against Jennifer Lee. Lee took the first set 6-4, but Stroup fought back with determined play in the second set to win it 6-3. A 10-point super tiebreaker was played for the third set and Stroup left Lee shaking her head in a 10-2 runaway. The rest of the Falcons breezed in their matches with freshman Patti Dominguez leading the way with a 6-0,6-0 win at #2. Mia Bobrowski won easily at #3 with a 6-0,6-1 win, as did Monica Kobylaryz at 4 with a 6-2,6-3 victory. Sarah Ervin, a sophomore in her first collegiate match took an easy 6-0, 6-2 win at the #5 spot.

The Falocns next match is Tuesday February 13th at Catawba at 3 followed by the first home match on Thursday against Lenoir-Rhyne at 3 pm.
