CLEVELAND, OH – On Thursday, the second set of fall 2016-17 Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings were released and Pfeiffer University debuted as the second highest ranked Conference Carolinas school.
The Falcons entered their first week in the standings at No. 53 as the men’s soccer team garnered 64 points with their late season run in the NCAA tournament before falling to Wingate University in the Sweet 16 round. Pfeiffer went 19-3 on the year and were ranked No. 6 in the final NSCAA national rankings.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. The Directors' Cup Committee is reviewing the scoring structure for 2016-17 which will be finalized prior to the winter sports standings.
