What is Student-Athlete Advisory Committee? (SAAC)
A student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.
Pfeiffer University’s SAAC goals are to engage in community service projects, participate in the division-wide fundraising Make-A-Wish Campaign, build a sense of community within each athletic team, and develop student-athlete leaders. SAAC members also offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.

PURPOSE
1. To serve as a liaison between the student-athlete population and the Pfeiffer University Administration as well as that of the Athletics Department.
2. To provide an opportunity for the student-athlete population to communicate more formally and more effectively with these administrative bodies with regard to the needs and concerns of the student-athletes, especially in the areas of academics and personal well-being.
3. To encourage more active involvement by the student-athletes in campus and community projects.
4. To encourage unity, common purpose, and camaraderie between teams and among all student-athletes at Pfeiffer University.

MEMBERSHIP
The membership is comprised of at least one student-athlete from each of the university’s 20 varsity intercollegiate athletics teams.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Membership on the SAAC requires that each representative be enrolled on a full-time basis and be academically eligible at the time of selection, and must remain in good standing academically throughout the academic year of SAAC membership.
2. Representatives should recognize the importance of SAAC's work and have requisite motivation to participate actively in its work.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend all committee meetings and activities;
2. Represent the team's views at committee meetings;
3. Report on committee meetings to the team and coach, and distribute to them copies of each meeting's minutes;
4. Organize team members to help with any special projects;
5. Actively assist the committee in achieving its goals.

FALCON CUP
Falcon Cup is a joint effort by SAAC to create a more well rounded student athlete. It is a team competition designed to encourage participation in school activities while rewarding academic and athletic excellence.

Awards
All school teams will compete and accumulate points through out the year to be tallied toward the Falcon Cup and Top Team awards. The Top Team Awards will be presented to the male and female teams who accumulate the most points over the course of the academic year. The Falcon Cup will be awarded to the most well rounded team of the year. That is the team that earns points in all categories while portraying a positive student athlete image. The Falcon Cup award will also include a decision by the coaching staff and athletic training staff concerning the best overall team attitude.  The Falcon Cup maybe awarded to one of the Top Teams or another team who shows excellence in these categories:

Academic Excellence- Honor Roll, culture credit earned in a semester as a team, Team GPA, Scholar Athlete awards, other academic school awards
Athletic Excellence- Conference and School Athletic Awards, Championships, Player of the Week, Meeting attendance (SAAC)
Personal and Career Development- workshops, speakers
Community Service- Service done as a team (ex. Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life)
Falcon Spirit- Game attendance (Home and away), FCA pre-game activities, Homecoming events, April Fest events

Point Accumulation
Points are earned when a team participates in events falling into the previous categories. SAAC will track points earned in the academic and athletic excellence categories. Points earned in the other categories will be written up and turned into the captain mailbox. Only SAAC representatives are allowed to write up an event and have it count towards team points. Point reporting cards will only be taken within the week of the actual event and will be tallied every week. Points will be calculated as a percentage of the total team present in order to keep the competition fair between the large and small teams. Each event will be out of 100%. Teams will be able to earn extra points if their coach attends events.  Points and upcoming activities will be updated weekly in order to encourage a competitive spirit.
