Ben McDonald was named Pfeiffer basketball coaching staff in June 2013. McDonald will serve as assistant basketball coach, head junior varsity coach, and strength and condition coach for the Falcons.
McDonald joins Pfeiffer from Cortland, N.Y. where he was the Athletics Coordinator and head coach at Southern Cayuga Central High School and led the 2012-13 Chiefs to their highest win total in the past decade.
McDonald was also the founder of Status Pro Athletics in Cortland, where he specialized in strength and conditioning as well as skill development for high school, college, and professional players. McDonald’s effort helped build Status Pro into the premier basketball training program in Central N.Y.
McDonald also gained valuable coaching experience as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Cazenovia College. In 2009, he was counted on to oversee the Wildcats strength and conditioning program and helped with the day-to-day operations of the team. As a student athlete, McDonald was a four-year letter winner as a member of the baseball, basketball and golf teams and graduated Magna Cum Laude while serving as the President of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Community Organized for Student Success.
McDonald earned his bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies with a concentration in Sport Management and also earned certification from the International Fitness Professionals Association to become a certified strength and conditioning coach. He earned his Master’s of Science in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland.
