Pfeiffer University men's basketball coach Jeremy Currier announced that Darryl Slack is joining his staff as an assistant coach in May 2013.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Slack comes to Pfeiffer from Kennesaw State University, where he served as an assistant coach to Lewis Preston. As a member of the Owls coaching staff, Slack was involved with player development workouts, coordinating team community service, travel and film exchange, scouting opponents, in-state recruiting, and on-court coaching.
Prior to joining the staff at Kennesaw State, Slack worked at Georgia Tech under both Paul Hewitt and Brian Gregory. During his two seasons with the Georgia Tech men's basketball team, Slack assisted in the day-to-day operations of the basketball office, such as film editing and scout preparation, while also aiding in the practice and skill workouts. Slack also served as a summer camp counselor at Georgia Tech.
As a student-athlete at West Virginia Tech, Slack was a two-time All Mid-South Conference selection, and earned a bachelor's degree in athletic coaching education in 2010. He went on to earn a master's degree in sport management from West Virginia in 2011. Slack prepped at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, where he and current Los Angeles Lakers star Dwight Howard helped the Warriors claim the 2004 Georgia Class A state championship.
"I'm thrilled with the addition of Darryl to our staff," said Currier. "He has experience as a successful college player and coach in an environment where there is an equal commitment to excellence in academics and athletics. His versatility will be a valuable addition to our program."
Slack and his wife, Jessica, who works in the admissions office at Spelman College, live in Smyrna, GA.
