Corina Mahorn enters her first season on the Pfeiffer women’s lacrosse coaching staff. Mahorn has extensive playing and coaching experience, including her time training with the Team Canada National Team for the World Cup as well as Division I playing experience at the University of Detroit Mercy. She has also coached internationally with the Oshawa Lady Blue Knights U19 squad.
In 2005, the Whitby, Ontario native spent time playing in Australia. She also began training for the Canadian National Team in 2007 and made it until the last cuts just prior to the World Cup. She then began playing for Club Oshawa’s Lady Blue Knights and caught the attention of Division I coaching staffs. Mahorn decided to attend the University of Detroit Mercy and was a four-year midfielder and two-time captain, for the Titans from 2008-12. In 2012, she was selected to the NLC Second Team after recording 24 goals, 35 points and 43 draw controls. She also earned NLC’s Defensive Player of the Week honors on April 9, 2012, as she picked up 23 ground balls and had 12 caused turnovers. For her career, she posted 110 goals and 135 points, good for third in school history and added 146 draw controls and 25 assists.
Mahorn also excelled off the field, being selected to the UDM Athletic Director’s Honor Roll four times and was tabbed to the NLC All-Academic Team three times.
After graduation, Mahorn again tried out for Team Canada and played in the North American Cup Challenge. She also played in the Stars and Stripes game for Team Canada in October 2012. Again, she advanced to the final round of cuts before the World Cup, coming just shy of making the squad.
Mahorn has spent four years as an Assistant Coach of the Lady Blue Knights and helped guide the team to a Provincial Championship in 2013. She graduated in 2012 with a degree in Accounting.
