Ryan King enters his first season with the Pfeiffer Men's Basketball program as a Graduate Assistant Coach.
Originating from Chatham, VA, King comes to Pfeiffer after playing 3 years of semi-professional basketball in the American Basketball Association (ABA), where he received nominations to the 2011 and 2012 ABA All-Star team. Off the court, King gave back to his hometown community by serving as the Athletic Director for the Boys and Girls Club in Chatham, VA. While serving as Athletic director, King was involved with training local middle and high school students in basic, intermediate, and advanced basketball fundamentals, developing drills and skill building workout plans, and creating both group and individualized training sessions for participants.
Prior to his semi-professional career, King began his collegiate basketball career at Pfeiffer University and played 2 seasons. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in 2010 for Business Marketing from Virginia Union University as a scholarship student athlete for the men's basketball team under Hall of Fame Coach Dave Robbins and Coach Willard Coker during his 3 year stent. During his collegiate career at the NCAA Division II powerhouse Virginia Union University, he was named CIAA Quarterfinals Most Valuable Player and award by Virginia Union University's Men's Basketball team Most Valuable Player for the 2010 season.
Before playing collegiate basketball, King began his athletic career at nationally renowned preparatory powerhouse Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA playing under Coach Kevin Keatts. While Hargrave Military Academy, King played alongside players such as Sam Young, NBA 2009 Draft pick, and Joe Alexander, top 10 NBA 2008 Draft pick.
