Greg Walker entered his first season as Head Volleyball Coach for the men's and women's programs at Pfeiffer University - Fall of 2012. Walker brings with him an extensive coaching background and volleyball knowledge from his time spent on staff with some of the top programs in the country at the Division I level.
Pfeiffer University Volleyball has had a tradition of excellence. The men's program is the current defending conference champions with back to back championship titles in 2012 and 2013. The men's program competes at a national level against other Division I programs such as Penn State, Saint Francis (PA), IPFW, Ball State, NJIT, etc. This past season they finished with an overall record of 17-8 and a 13-3 conference record. Coach Walker had 4 All-Conference Players (Caleb Brophy, Eric Edelman, Mark Hess, David Specian), Player of the Year and Tournament MVP (Caleb Brophy) as well as 3 players make the All-Tournament Team (Caleb Brophy, Mark Hess, David Specian).
The women's program had it's success in the progress the team made in growth throughout the season. PUWVB produced a 2012 All Conference Player: Kelly Lancellot, as well as several student athletes receiving Conference Academic Awards for their outstanding performance in the classroom. The Lady Falcons look forward to their 2013 fall season after adding a strong recruiting class - and to add a schedule that will have the PUWVB team competing nationally.
Currently Coach Walker is an Assistant Coach with our USA Men's National Sitting Volleyball Team that trains at the Olympic Training Center on the University of Central Oklahoma Campus.
Prior to his work at Pfeiffer, Coach Walker spent a brief time at the University of Oregon as the Women's Volunteer Assistant Coach and helped to plan and run the Duck's annual summer camps. He also served as the Women's 1st Assistant Coach at Mercer University located in Macon, Georgia. His responsibilities included assisting in all aspects of the program, including video analysis, statistical breakdown, recruiting, practice management and travel. He specifically worked with the team's defensive preparation as it ranked second in the NCAA DI Atlantic Sun Conference in blocks (1.93 per set) and digs (15.96 d/s), and posted the programs second-ever win over an SEC foe with its upset of the University of Georgia.
In the spring of 2011 and 2012, he served as an assistant coach with the Juniata College (Pa.) men’s team - a six-time Division III national champion. The squad featured two All-Americans (Joe Bortak, Ben Wolf), four all-conference picks (John Almquist, Bortak, Ross Madden and Wolf), and the CVC Freshman of the Year (Bortak), and led the country in blocks and hitting.
In the spring of 2011, Walker helped lead Juniata to an 18-12 overall record and another undefeated EIVA conference run (8-0). During the season, the squad ranked first nationally in the AVCA Division III Polls en route to a season-ending No. 5 ranking, and was led by first-team All-American Chris Vrooman.
During his time in Happy Valley, he was also the head coach of the Penn State women’s club team in the fall of '09, and coached the team to capture Penn State’s first League Tournament of the season against other Division I club teams.
