Softball Starts Year with Upset of #14 Kutztown; Split Pair of Games at UNCP Invitational
PEMBROKE, N.C. – Pfeiffer University began its 2010 softball with a split in a pair of games at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Falcons started the year with a 4-3 upset win over #14 Kutztown University before falling 9-4 in the nightcap to West Virginia State. Pfeiffer used a walk-off double by Shelby Brown in the bottom of the seventh in a game one win while stranding 11 runners on in the game two loss. Read more
Lady Falcon Softball Picked to Finish Third in Preseason Coaches Poll
HIGH POINT, N.C.- Conference Carolinas head softball coaches voted Mount Olive College as their preseason poll favorite for the 2010 season. Mount Olive enters the 2010 season as the only Conference Carolinas team to finish in the top three in both the regular season standings and the conference tournament in each of the last three years. The Trojans were 25-18-1 overall last year and finished second in the regular season standings with an 11-5 mark, one game out of first place. The Trojans placed third in the conference tournament after a runner-up finish in 2008. Read more
