MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer Falcons (19-19, 9-12 CC) split Saturday's doubleheader with the Emmanuel Lions (14-24, 7-17 CC) at Joe Ferebee Field, losing game one 13-9 and picking up a win in game two, 7-5. Jordan Eckard collected five hits with two RBI on the day and Xavier Rodriguez added up four hits, four RBI and also picked up a save.

In game one, The Falcons took a 4-1 lead after two innings as Rodriguez singled in two runs and Eckard doubled in two more.

The Lions scored a total of 12 runs between the third and the fifth innings but Pfeiffer countered with three of its own in the bottom of the fifth as RBI hits by Rodriguez and Kirby Lambert closed the gap to 13-7.

Andrew Toney added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh with a single but the Falcons fell short and lost 13-9.

In game two, Pfeiffer again jumped out to early lead by the score of 4-0 as Gauge Gantt capped off the first inning with a two-run homer over the center field fence.

Later in the game, down by 5-2, Lion's Hanon Price homered to close the gap to two runs.

Ira Dorin knocked in his fourth run of the year in the bottom of the sixth as it scored Rodriguez and make it 6-3.

In the top of the seventh, Price connected again but this time off Falcons reliever Cody McKenzie with a single to right field.

Zach Scudder singled in Eckard in the bottom of the seventh with an insurance run that sealed a 7-5 Falcons victory.

Nick Richmond picked up his first win of the season as he threw six innings, gave up three runs, and had three strikeouts. Rodriguez finished off the game in the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the year.

Pfeiffer returns to action next weekend as it traves to North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action starting on Friday at 3 p.m.

Pfeiffer continues to battle for the sixth-place spot in the conference with Limestone. The Falcons hold the tiebreaker with the Saints as they swept the season series earlier this year.
