MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer men's lacrosse team (1-5) suffered a 9-6 defeat at N.E. Lefko Field on Monday afternoon to Drew (1-2) in non-conference action. The Rangers outscored the Falcons 4-0 in the fourth quarter to steal the road victory.
The Falcons went 2-for-4 on the man advantage but were outshot 37-20 on the afternoon. Drew held a 29-18 advantage in ground balls and forced Pfeiffer to commit 21 turnovers.
Pfeiffer jumped out early as Jared Nelson scored the game's only first quarter goal to put Pfeiffer up 1-0. Drew scored the first three goals of the second quarter to surge ahead 3-1 but Pfeiffer answered with three tallies in a 2:46 stretch to reclaim the lead. Garlow scored twice in that span, with one coming on the man advantage, and Kyle Barna added his first of the day to put Pfeiffer up 4-3 at halftime.
Drew countered with two goals to take a 5-4 advantage with 6:56 to play in the third quarter before Justin Oberg evened the contest at the 6:37 mark. With Pfeiffer up a man, Cody Lamond scored with 1:04 to go in the third quarter to give Pfeiffer a 6-5 edge.
However, Pfeiffer wouldn't be able to find the back of the net in the final 16:04 of the contest as Drew tied the game at the 13:10 mark and scored twice in a seven second span in the middle of the fourth to seal the victory.
Pfeiffer will return to action on Wednesday as they host Walsh for a 7 p.m. night game.
