Savannah, GA -- The Pfeiffer men's lacrosse team (2-1) picked up win number two on the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Neumann (1-1) 11-10 at Scarborough Sports Complex. The Falcons were led by senior Blade Garlow, who scored five goals and had one assist on the game.
Pfeiffer got ahead early and held an 8-2 advantage early in the third quarter after a goal by Garlow. The Knights would bounce back, however, and would close the gap to 10-9 late in the fourth. With momentum on their side, Neumann looked to complete a big come from behind victory. Pfeiffer would not let that happen, however, as Jared Nelson put one in the back of the net with 2:16 left in the game to secure the win.
Nelson came through with 4 goals on the afternoon while collecting 3 assists. Luke Cox also dished out 3 assists, including on the game-winning goal by Nelson. John Allen came up big with two goals of his own. Goalie Nathan Walker came through with 9 saves.
The Falcons beat the Knights in turnovers and saves on the afternoon. Neumann had 20 turnovers while Pfeiffer had 14. The Falcons collected 9 saves, while the Knights came up with just 4.
Chris Augustine, Eric Colon, Adam Fagan, and Bo Olshefsky all scored two goals for Neumann, while Augustine had three assists.
Pfeiffer hits the field again tomorrow afternoon as they play Berry at the Scarborough Sports Complex. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
