LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Caleb Bratager's golden goal in the 105th minute sent the Pfeiffer men's soccer team (4-4) to its third straight victory, a 2-1 triumph in double overtime over Covenant (3-7-1) on Saturday afternoon. The goal was Bratager's fifth of the season and his first career game-winner. Bratager has netted at least one goal in four straight matches.
Tomas Correa made 10 saves, including a pair of spectacular stops in overtime, to earn his fourth victory of the season and 36th of his career.
Covenant outshot Pfeiffer 26-18 in the match and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. However, thanks to brilliant goalkeeping, Covenant could only muster one score. That goal came in the 52nd minute when Jesse Riggs' attempt deflected off a leg in front of Correa and found the back of the net to give the hosts a lead.
Chris Brown would get the equalizer in the 78th minute as the sophmore registered his fifth goal of the season. Brown got control off his own deflection and beat the keeper to keep Pfeiffer alive.
In the opening overtime period, the Scots outshot Pfeiffer 4-1 but Correa came up big with two big saves on shots from close range.
After Covenant took a pair of shots in the second overtime frame, Stenson Croom controlled the ball from midfield and passed to Brown who sent it in the box. Croom got to it before the charging goalie and got enough on the pass to find Bratager who chipped it into the open net and silence the home crowd. (WATCH THE GOAL)
