Track and Field to Send Eight to ECAC Indoor Championships This Weekend

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer men's and women's indoor track and field team will be sending eight individuals to compete at the ECAC Indoor Championships on March 2-3 at the historic Armory Track and Field in New York City.

The men will be led by senior standout Matt Chavers who qualified in the weight throw. Chavers ranks third currently and has broken his own record with a throw of 17.01m at the VMI Winter Relays in early February.

Joining Chavers will be the 4x400m relay team consisting of Tevin Colson, Devon Williams, Xavier Huntley and Colby Avins. The quartet smashed the indoor relay record, finishing in a time of 3:31.68 to qualify or the ECAC Championships.

Williams, a freshman standout, also qualified to run in the 800m and the 1000m but will only run the 800m along with the relay.

Huntley qualified in the 400m and is currently ranked 36th in the event.

Sean Bryant will compete in the 60m and the 200m over the weekend, the same two events that teammate Keshon Roman qualified to run in.

On the women's side, Cassidy Hooper was the lone qualifier. Her time of 3:12.62 at the VMI Winter Relays was good enough to qualify her in the 1000m where she currently ranks 17th in the ECAC.

The Falcons have just one event Friday with the bulk of the action taking place on Saturday. The first event for Pfeiffer is the 60m trials at 4:50 p.m. on Friday.
