Three School Records Fall at Montreat Invitational

Black Mountain, NC – The Pfeiffer men's and women's track team traveled to Montreat College, to compete in the two-day Montreat Invitational.

The Falcons came away with three school records broken and a handful of top ten finishes.

Senior Matt Chavers started the meet off breaking his school record in the hammer throw. Chavers throw of 52.11m (170-11.5) was good enough for first place in the event. Chavers would finish more than 5.5m ahead of second place.

Sophomore Xavier Huntley broke the school record in the 400m on the way to a fourth-place finish. Huntley's time of 49.99 was the first time a Pfeiffer runner has ever run under the 50 second mark.

Freshman Keyshawn Campbell was the final Falcon to break a school record. Campbell jumped 6.32m (20-8.75) breaking the previous mark and giving him an 8th place finish overall.

Freshman Devon Williams made his debut in the 1500m, running a 4:15.83, which was good for 9th place.

Tevin Colson continued his streak of top performances in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 8th place, running 59.10 for the race.

Cassidy Hooper and Jayde Kemp led the way for the women. Hooper finished 10th in the 1500m running a time of 5:15.15, while Kemp finished 9th in the 800m running a time of 2:32.84.

The Falcons will take the next weekend off and return to action in two weeks as they will travel to Burlington, NC for the Phoenix Invitational, held on the campus of Elon University.
