MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer University men's and women's basketball will host a Meet the Falcons/Media Day on Saturday, November 6th from 12:00-3:00 p.m. in the Merner Gym as both teams prepare for the upcoming 2010-2011 season. The event is free and open to the public as plenty of events and activities are planned for the fans which includes a shot for free season tickets.
The festivities begin with the women's alumni game at high noon as the current Lady Falcons take on former athletes such as Nicole Maready and Shannon Reid in the hour-long contest. Following the women's alumni game will be the introduction of Falcons with cheerleaders, the spirit club and Pfeiffer's newest mascot, Freddie the Falcon.
During the one o'clock hour, fans will get the first look and introduction of the Pfeiffer squads competing on the hardwood this season while getting to witness a dunk contest and three-point shootout judged by the fans. After that exhibition, fans will have a chance to come down onto the floor and take a half-court shot to score season tickets for all home games during the 2010-2011 season.
Wrapping things up at 2:00 p.m. will be the men's alumni game bringing back familiar faces to include Tony Smith, Pfeiffer's all-time leading scorer with a 15 year professional career, and the Grier brothers Rico and Mario. Rico departed Pfeiffer as one of the winningest player in Pfeiffer history notching over 1,900 points.
