MISENHEIMER, N.C. - In conjunction with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), Pfeiffer University will participate in the 2011 Pink Zone initiative to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. All proceeds will go to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Pfeiffer will host the Pink Zone night on Saturday, February 26th as the Lady Falcons take on the Erskine College in the regular season home finale at 5:30 p.m. It will also be Girl Scout Night sponsored by The Village Church at Pfeiffer.
In 2010, over 1,800 participants came together to surpass $1,045,000 in donations and reached more than 922,000 fans across the nation. Over 22 schools broke attendance records through their participation.
To donate on behalf of Pfeiffer, contact head coach Jill Thomas. The WBCA Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Proceeds will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund, a 501 c(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancer through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
