Misenheimer, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (15-3) kept their home undefeated streak alive on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Meredith (5-17) 82-70 to improve to 10-0 inside Merner Gymnasium. Junior guard Sydni Bickford led the Falcons with 21 points, including hitting 4 three pointers. Bickford has now scored 20 or more points in three of her last four games.
The game was tight throughout, as the Avenging Angels gave Pfeiffer all they could handle. Although Meredith never led in the game, they came to within 7 after the third quarter. The Falcons came out hot in the fourth, however, as Bickford led the way with 8 fourth quarter points. Brina Bentley and Grayson Harris also contributed 4 points each in the 22 point Pfeiffer fourth period.
Senior Kayla Whitworth came through with a solid performance off the bench, scoring 9 points and bringing down 5 rebounds, while going 4-8 from the floor. Grayson Harris battled through foul trouble throughout the contest, but still managed to put up 8 points and 4 rebounds. Dajea Scott and A'Mya McClain scored 7 points each, while Scott collected 10 assists on the game.
The Falcons once again came to play on the defensive side of the ball, forcing 21 turnovers and collecting 13 steals. Scott, Bickford, and Whitworth all had 3 steals each. Another key to the Pfeiffer win was the play of their bench. The Falcon bench outscored the Angels' bench 33-15.
Pfeiffer returns to the court tomorrow afternoon as they look to improved to 11-0 at home as they face William Peace, whom they defeated 91-55 back in November. Tip off is scheduled for 1:00.
