Women's Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Eight in Road Victory at N.C. Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (9-1) ran its winning streak to eight in a row with a 23-2 victory over N.C. Wesleyan (1-9) on a chilly Saturday afternoon. Molly O'Friel led the Falcons with eight goals and Meagan Bourque added five scores.

The nine wins on the season match last year's victory total, despite six fewer games played. The 2017 Falcons went 9-7 and Pfeiffer can top that mark with a victory on Tuesday night against Methodist.

The Falcons scored the first 10 goals of the game and never looked back. O'Friel finished the game with three assists and 15 draw controls, giving her 213 for her career. The program mark of 266 was set by Katherine Athens in 2014 and O'Friel is 54 shy of catching Athens.

Bourque added a pair of assists to go with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Hailey Metzger added a career-high four goals on six shots.

Josie Lent added a hat trick and tallied two assists, four ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Kylie Lode netted a goal and three assists and the duo of Startraya Galloway and Gabby Bosak each scored once.

The Falcons outshot the Battling Bishops 43-7 on the afternoon. Pfeiffer also held a 21-6 edge in draw controls and a 30-18 advantage in ground balls.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday night when they play their final road game of the regular season against Methodist. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
