Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Three with 2-0 Win Over Meredith

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2018) –
The Pfeiffer University women's soccer team won their third consecutive match, downing visiting Meredith 2-0 in a USA South match at Lefko Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons wasted no time as Mackenzie Pruitt (Havelock, N.C.) received a pass from teammate
Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) and split two Meredith defenders. She then ripped a shot past Meredith goalkeeper Miranda Lutz to grab the 1-0 lead just 6:40 into the match.  The goal for Pruitt was her fifth of the season and the assist was Manson's team-best fifth of the year.

In the second half, Maddie Capel (Harrisburg, N.C.) scored her team-high eighth goal of the season with an assist from Pruitt in the 53rd minute.

Falcon goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt (St. Cloud, Fla.) earned the win to improve her record to 8-2 on the season.  Hyatt managed four saves and earned her fourth shutout of the season.

The Falcons have been stellar defensively over the last several matches with the last goal allowed coming in the first half of the 2-1 setback at Greensboro on Oct. 3.  Over that span, Pfeiffer has outscored their opponents 9-0 and has not yielded a goal in the past 333:47 of actual match time.

Pfeiffer will return to play on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on Salem in a 4:00 p.m. matchup.
