Rock Hill, SC – The Pfeiffer's men's and women's track and field team traveled to Winthrop University, for the Adidas Winthrop Invitational.
Senior Matt Chavers broke the school record in the hammer throw. His throw of 51.17m (167-10.75) was good for 5th place in the competition.
Junior Sean Bryant netted a top 20 performance running the 100m in a time of 11.07 (19th). Sophomore Xavier Huntley moved closer to breaking the school record in the 400m. His time of 50.59 was .02 seconds away from besting the mark.
During day 2 action, Senior ChyAnn Ketchum turned in a 9th place finish in the women's javelin. Ketchum threw a season-best 31.31m (102-09).
Junior Klay Gill narrowly missed a school record in the men's javelin. Gill's throw of 37.25m (122-2.75), was good for an 11th place finish.
Freshman Sully Hudson ran 4:25.38 in the developmental race for the men's 1500m. That time put Hudson into 6th position. Fellow distance runner Cassidy Hooper ran 5:10.75 putting her in 19th.
Senior Jayde Kemp, ran her way to a 12th place finish in the elite 800m race, running a time of 2:28.09. The meet concluded for the Falcons with Tevin Colson just off of school record pace in the 400m Hurdles. Colson time of 58.59 was good for 11th place and just missed the school record by .09 seconds.
The Falcons will return to action next week at the Montreat College Track and Field Invitational, being held next Friday and Saturday in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
