With the Spirits leading by the score of 4-1 in the first set, freshman Kaylee Freed helped the Falcons go on to take a 7-6 lead after consecutive points where she had a kill and a service ace. In that rally, Errington had one of her five kills on the night. Eventually, Salem had retaken the lead but Pfeiffer wouldn't fold. A Sam Smith kill and Emma Gray Beacham ace kept the Falcons within three points at 17-14. Pfeiffer wasn't able to overtake the Spirits as they eventually fell, 25-16. Over the next two sets, the Falcons fell shorts at 25-14 and 25-18.
Three Spirit players were in double figures that provided the offensive punch that was needed. Kylie led the match with 16 kills, Kathyrn O'Connell and Madelyn Chappell had 11 and 10 respectively. Hannah Delcamp had a match-high 42 assists.
The Falcons return to action, as they stay on a road for a quad match at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7th against Averett and N.C. Wesleyan in Rocky Mount.
