FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Kylie Spencer took home a first-place finish as both men's and women's cross country teams placed third at the Monarch Cross Country Invite hosted by Methodist University on Saturday morning. Spencer's time of 26:11.39 led the field of 68 runners and was first by 4.8 seconds.
Cassidy Hooper also captured a top-five finish as the junior was fourth with a time of 26:52.15. The Falcons were the only team to place two runners inside the top four. Also finishing inside the top-10 was Megan Miller whose time of 28:41.55 was good for a sixth-place finish. Rounding out the top five runners for Pfeiffer were Dana Johnson and Cailen Fusetti.
On the men's side, Sully Hudson captured his first ever top-10 finish as the freshman from Winston-Salem placed ninth with a time of 31:34.82. Finishing right after Hudson was senior Brandon Boyd who came in 12th just 18 seconds behind Hudson. Nicholas Barnes placed 18th followed by Robert Russell, Michael McKinney and Alex Brown.
The Pfeiffer cross country teams will return to action next Saturday as they travel to Maryville, TN to compete in the Maryville College Cross Country Invite.
