Zalacca Announces Resignation to Become Assistant AD for Athletic Communications at Lenoir-Rhyne

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications Jeremy Zalacca announced his resignation to assume the same position at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

"I am delighted for Jeremy that he gets the opportunity to work for a great Athletic Director in Kim Pate and an outstanding athletic department in Lenoir-Rhyne," commented VP for Athletics Bob Reasso. "They are getting an extremely talented professional who has developed over the last five years to be an exceptional talent in the Athletic Communications field. The work he has done for us is as good of work that you will see at any university in America. We are desperately sad to lose him but we are excited for this new opportunity that's been presented to him."

Zalacca joined the Pfeiffer University Athletic Department in July 2013 and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications 18 months later.

In his five years with the Falcons, Zalacca reshaped the Athletic Communications department. One of his main initiatives was improving Pfeiffer's social media presence. Zalacca created YouTube and Instagram pages for the department when he first arrived and his work in social media had the Falcons ranked as high as No. 4 in all of Division II in likes/followers per enrollment according to As the Falcons transitioned to Division III, Zalacca also had the Falcons ranked No. 9 out of 428 Division III programs.

He completely rebranded the Pfeiffer University Athletics web page and also created a mobile app. Additionally, Zalacca created in-depth record books and gathered historical data for all of Pfeiffer's athletic programs.

Zalacca was in charge of live streaming Pfeiffer home games and transitioned to streaming via YouTube last year. He was also responsible for writing press releases, website maintenance, all athletic social media platforms, statistics for all teams, hiring and training of scorer's table and press box personnel and served on the Pfeiffer Athletics Senior Staff. Zalacca also helped run the annual Sports Hall of Fame and All Sports Banquet events.

 "Pfeiffer will always be a special place to me," commented Zalacca. "I was privileged to work with so many outstanding student-athletes, coaches and administrators in my time. I want to thank Bob Reasso for giving me the opportunity here and allowing me to grow in the position. Without his guidance, I wouldn't be where I am today. I was honored to be the person to tell the story of Pfeiffer Athletics and I have so many great memories during my time here. I want to thank every person that helped me along the way."

Prior to coming to Misenheimer, Zalacca had two years of Assistant Sports Information experience and also held positions at ESPN and Stats, LLC.
