MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer Falcons (7-8, 1-3) picked up a big victory over the Limestone Saints (12-7, 2-2) 6-3 on Friday night as Joe Ferebee Field as Drew Wilson pitched an excellent game as he threw seven innings, struck out nine, allowing just two runs.
Limestone picked up two quick runs in the top of the first as the lead-off batter Garrett Lowery walked and then three batters later Chase Allen hit a homerun.
Pfeiffer answered with two of their own in the bottom half of the first as Falcon lead-off John Elwood walked and stole second, the next two batters for Pfeiffer recorded outs but then Tanner Mathis hit a double to left center to score Elwood. Damon Smith singled through the right side to bring in Mathis to tie it up.
Limestone starter Brady Graham and Falcon starter Wilson both settled in for the next four innings as both put zeros up on the scoreboard.
Pfeiffer scored in the bottom of the sixth as Graham's defense behind him, let him down. Smith reach on an error by the shortstop. After Xavier Rodriguez and Brandall Peters reached with singles, back-to-back fielders choices by Ira Dorin and Cody McKenzie brought in to Falcon runs. Elwood capped off the inning as he singled down the third base line, both Dorin and McKenzie to score and give the Falcons the lead 5-2.
The Saints scored one last time in the top of the eighth as Allen hit his second homerun of the night.
Pfeiffer added one more insurance run bottom of the inning as Elwood tripled down the right field line to score McKenzie from first.
Cameron Reid came in for the last two innings and picked up his second save of the season.
Elwood went 3-for-5 on the night with 3 RBI and extended his hitting streak to 14 games.
The Falcons and Saint will play again tomorrow part of a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. at Joe Ferebee Field.
