Brevard, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer baseball team (18-7) opened up their weekend series against Brevard (6-18) with a bang as they scored 21 runs in a 21-7 victory on Friday. Leading the charge was Jordan Eckard, who went 4-6 with 4 RBI's on the afternoon.
The Falcons got out to an early 7-0 lead by the third inning. Jordan Eckard started his great night with an RBI single in the first that scored Derek Perry, who would score 4 runs on the game. Mason Striplin then singled home Christian Marciano to score the second run of the contest in the second inning.
The Falcon offense wouldn't allow the Tornadoes pitching to breeth, as they would score 3 more runs in the fifth, and 2 in the 6th. Jordan Eckard continued his hot night with another RBI hit in the fifth, this time a double that would score Xavier Rodriguez. In the sixth, freshman third baseman Kyler Fairchild homered to left field for a two-run bomb to continue the rout.
If 14 runs were not enough, the Falcon offense would finish the game with a seven run ninth inning. The inning was highlighted by a Brian Kowalski triple that cleared the bases to score 3 more runs. The 21 runs on the night were the most runs Pfeiffer has scored this season.
Chaston Gordon had a big game for the Falcons, going 2-5 with 2 runs scored. Christian Marciano also drove in 3 of the 21 Falcon runs on the afternoon. Shortstop Bryan Kowalski collected 5 RBI's as well.
For Brevard, Beau Shealy and Tyler Timms each had a 3 hit games. Shealy also had 2 stolen bases on the contest.
Games two and three of the series are scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. The first game is scheduled for 12 pm., while game two is scheduled for approximately 3 p.m.
