MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer men's basketball team (20-4) notched its second straight 20-win season with a 118-87 win over Ferrum (6-19) on Sunday afternoon. The back-to-back 20 win campaigns marks the first time the program has won over 20 in consecutive years since 2003-04.
It was Pfeiffer's second game in two days as today's game was rescheduled from mid-January when a snowstorm postponed the contest. The Falcons came out of the gate firing and never looked back, scoring the first 12 points of the contest.
The Panthers would claw back and pull within two points at 20-18 but the Falcons would erupt for 17 points in the next three minutes to push the lead to 37-22.
Pfeiffer went into the halftime break with a 63-42 advantage and extended the lead to as many as 34 points in the second half.
Josh Calhoun scored a game-high 22 points despite a cold shooting day. The senior guard, playing in his final game in Merner Gym, went 11-of-12 from the free throw line and moved into 10th place in career scoring with 1,637 points.
Brian Harper added 15 points, six assists and four steals on the afternoon and Craig Sabb finished with 10 points, seven boards and five assists. Brendan Jones added 12 points along with Josiah Avington.
As a team, the Falcons connected on 17-of-19 from the free throw line in the game and had 42 points off turnovers.
Ferrum was led by Josh Dudney who finished with a double-double, recording 19 points and 10 rebounds and adding six assists.
The win gives Pfeiffer an 11-2 mark inside Merner Gym this season and Pfeiffer has won 26 of the last 29 games at home.
The Falcons conclude the regular season with a trip to Piedmont International tomorrow evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
