Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Takes 18-17 Win Over Piedmont
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 30, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team rallied in the fourth quarter, taking an 18-17 USA South win over Piedmont on Saturday afternoon at Lefko Field

Junior Jared Nelson had seven goals and added five assists on the day while senior John Allen notched five goals in the win. Jacob Leone and Ben Zahorec each had a pair of goals, with Leone also adding two assists. Like Cox had a goal and an assists in addition to a goal from Treven King. Maurice Owens and Josh Reffey earned a point by dishing an assist in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pfeiffer jumped out to a 7-4 lead after the first quarter and led 13-8 at halftime. Pedmont then used a big third quarter, outscoring the Falcons 7-1 to build a 15-14 lead.
Pfeiffer was able to tie the game at 15-15 when Ben Zahorec scored with 14:11 remaining. Piedmont went ahead again at 16-15 with a goal at 13:28.
Pfeiffer then posted three-straight goals, the first from Luke Cox followed by two Jared Nelson goals, to take the 18-16 lead.
Piedmont would then notch a goal at 1:16, but a late penalty by the Lions gave the Falcons a man-up opportunity inside the final minute and the Falcons were able to spread the field and run out the clock, preserving the 18-17 win to remain unbeaten in USA South play.
Pfeiffer takes to the road for a USA South game against Huntington on April 6 at 2:00 p.m. in Montgomery, Ala.
