Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Drops 4-1 Decision to N.C. Wesleyan

Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Falls at Home to N.C. Wesleyan, 4-1

Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 22, 2018) – The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team dropped a tough 4-1 decision to N.C. Wesleyan at Lefko Field on Saturday evening.

After battling to a scoreless draw through much of the first half, the Battling Bishops broke through when Sheriff Secka earned a penalty kick after the Falcons were whistled for a hand ball violation in the box. Secka put N.C. Wesleyan on the board with the shot to the lower corner past the Falcon keeper.

Secka notched his second goal of the match in the 60th minute on an assist Matteo Costa putting the visitors up 2-0.  The lead then grew to 3-0 when Costa scored about three minutes later.

Secka managed the hat trick, scoring his third goal of the match in the 77th minute to put N.C. Wesleyan up 4-0.

Pfeiffer was able to avoid the shutout when Caz Dabrowski (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) scored in the 79th minute off a rebound to provide the 4-1 final.

The loss drops the Falcons to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in USA South play while N.C. Wesleyan improves to 1-4 and 1-0 in league play.

Pfeiffer will have a short turnaround, as they travel to Raleigh, N.C. to take on William Peace on Sunday, Sept. 23 for a 7:00 p.m. match.
