Bratagar and Quintero Lead Pfeiffer Men to 5-0 Win at Methodist

Fayetteville, N.C. (Oct. 16 2019) –  Senior Jonathan Quintero scored a pair of goals while junior Caleb Bratager notched a hat trick as Pfeiffer University blanked Methodist 5-0 in a USA South men's soccer match at the Monarch SoccerPlex in Fayetteville, N.C. on Wednesday night.

The Falcons scored two first half goals with Quintero, from Mooresville, N.C., opening the scoring for the Falcons in the 16th minute when he scored off a pass from Diego Moran (Flushing, N.Y.) to put Pfeiffer up 1-0.

Bratager, a product of Wake Forest, N.C., scored his seventh goal of the season at the 24:41 mark on an assist from Caz Dabrowski (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.)  spurring the Falcons to a 2-0 cushion, a lead they would take into the halftime break.

Following the intermission Bratager and Dabrowski teamed up again, this time at 47:25 to put Pfeiffer up 3-0.  The duo struck once more, this time at 57:01 to extend the lead to 4-0, giving both the hat trick with Bratager the finishing with three goals and Dabrowski netting three assists.

The Falcons capped the scoring at 68:35, this time on an unassisted goal by Quintero, his fourth of the season.

All told, Pfeiffer outshot the Monarchs 16-14 while Methodist held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Pfeiffer goalkeeper David Chavarria (Franklinville, N.C.) earned the win, improving his record to 6-7 on the year.  Chavarria had four saves in a little over 75 minutes of work while Johvany Herrera (Concord, N.C.) logged just under 15 minute while making one save while combining for the shutout.

As a team, Pfeiffer improves to 6-8 on the year and 4-6 in USA South play while Methodist drops to 3-9-1 and 1-8-1 in conference play.

The Falcons will return home to Lefko Field this upcoming Saturday, Oct. 19 to host William Peace in a 7:00 p.m. USA South match.
