MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- HeroSports announced its Division III Preseason All-Americans and junior shortstop Vada Blue Sherrill was selected to the team. The Falcons are coming off back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional but will begin their first season in Division III and the USA South Athletic Conference in 2018 as the University continues its transition.
Sherrill was named Second Team All-Conference in 2017 and tied her own program record with 58 runs scored. As a sophomore, Sherrill had the sixth most hits in a single season with 58 and her 15 doubles tied the single-season record. Vada Blue drew 31 walks and stole 42 bases, while only being caught twice.
For the year, Sherrill hit .320 with a .438 on-base percentage and .486 slugging percentage while playing in all 54 games a year ago.
Sherrill was the 2016-17 Pfeiffer Female Athlete of the Year and has twice been an All-Conference player.

Sherrill and the Falcons open the 2018 season on Feb. 17 when they take on Birmingham Southern in the Piedmont Classic.
