Pfeiffer Softball Takes Two Against Greensboro to Extend Win Streak to Five

Greensboro, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer softball team recorded two wins on Saturday afternoon to improve their win streak to five games as they defeated Greensboro 4-3 in game one, and 13-1 in game two. Vada Sherrill came through with a combined 5 hits on the afternoon with a homerun.

Game One

Game one was a tough test for the Falcons, as they took home a 4-3 win in 10 innings. Vada Sherrill went 3-4 with 2 RBI's, including hitting her third homerun of the season. Pfeiffer held a 3-0 lead going in to the bottom of the fourth, when the Pride chipped away at the lead and found themselves down just one run going to the bottom of the seventh.

Down 3-2, Greensboro's Hayley Tickle hit an RBI single to left field that scored Allyson Loy to tie the game at 3. The game remained tied going to the top of the 10th, when senior Bailey Sherrill laid down a bunt on a squeeze play that scored Chandler Walker which would turn out to be the game winning run. Kiana Millsaps shut the door in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory.

Millsaps had a solid game in the circle, pitching 9 innings and giving up just 2 earned runs. She also struck out 6 Pride hitters. Kennedy Lester also threw a big 7th inning, getting Pfeiffer out of trouble and extending the game to the 8th inning.

Senior outfielder Amanda Sports had a solid day at the plate for the Falcons, going 2-4 with a walk. Sara Brown got the start behind the plate for Pfeiffer, and came up big with 3 hits on the game.

Game 2

Game two was the complete opposite of game one, as the Falcons offense torched Greensboro's pitching for 13 runs on 17 hits. Chandler Walker led the way with 4 hits, including a homerun, 3 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. Walker's homer was her second of the season.

Every starter had at least one hit for Pfeiffer, with Vada Sherrill, Sara Brown, and Bailey Sherrill collecting 2 hits each. Vada Sherrill had 3 RBI's on the game, while Kiana Millsaps, Amanda Sports, Stephanie Fortner, Abi Peck, and Kasey Rowden all had 1 RBI each.

Kennedy Lester went the distance in the circle, going 7 innings while giving up 4 hits, 4 walks, and 1 run (0 earned). Lester picked up her first in of the season with the win. Despite 4 errors committed by the Falcons' defense, Lester pitched solid game and gave her team a much needed strong start.

Pfeiffer takes the field again on Sunday as they play two against Averett. Game one is scheduled for 1:00, while game two is scheduled for 3:00.
