Pfeiffer Softball Player Kari Westerbeek Named Google Cloud Academic All-District
Misenheimer, N.C. (May 9, 2019) – Pfeiffer University softball player Kari Westerbeek has been named a first-team member of the Google Cloud Academic All-District team.
The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
Westerbeek, a sophomore designated player from Warsaw, N.C. carries a 3.80 grade point average, is majoring in Special and Elementary Education.
On the field, she has appeared in all 41 games and is hitting .337 on the season. She has connected for 34 hits, five of which are doubles with 10 home runs to her credit. She also has driven in 40 RBI on the season and has been walked 35 times.
