SPARTANBURG, SC -- Senior Meghan Holbrooks began her final season with Pfeiffer in dominated fashion, winning the Converse Fall Invitational by a full seven strokes this afternoon. Holbrooks' two-round total of 147 gave the Winston-Salem native her second straight tournament win. Previously, Holbrooks won the Conference Carolinas Tournament to conclude an outstanding junior season.
Holbrooks took home five top-10 finishes a season ago and is braced for an even bigger senior campaign. Competing against predominately Division II golfers, Holbrooks blew away the field. She entered round two with a one-shot lead over Kaitlyn Gribbon of Belmont Abbey but Gribbon shot a 79 this afternoon compared to Holbrooks' 73.
As a team, Pfeiffer finished sixth out of 11 teams with a team score of 707. A quartet of newcomers rounds out Pfeiffer's top five golfers. Olivia Templeton shot a two-round total of 180, good for a 31st place. Jessica May and Karie Shields place 34th and 39th respectively, while Caroline Rea placed 41st.
The tournament was won by Coker with a team score of 631. The host Valkyries finished in second, followed by Belmont Abbey.
The Falcons return to action next Monday as they travel to Bristol, Tennessee to compete in the King Invitational.
