GREENSBORO, N.C. – Molly O'Friel scored eight times to lead the Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (4-1) to a 12-10 victory over Guilford (2-3) on Wednesday afternoon. O'Friel was one goal shy of tying her own record for most goals in a game but had to settle for eight. The senior added an assist for a nine-point afternoon.
O'Friel scored Pfeiffer's first five goals of the contest and was outscoring the Guilford squad 5-3 in the first 19 minutes of the game. However, the Quakers rallied back to even the game at five with nine minutes left in the first half.
Guilford scored with 2:52 remaining in the first half to cut the Pfeiffer advantage to 7-6 at the end of the first 30 minutes of play.
Meredith Manson opened the second half with her first career goal to give the Falcons a two-goal advantage. After Guilford cut the deficit to 8-7, Kirsten Martin gave Pfeiffer a 9-7 advantage with 19:52 to play.
Guilford responded with a goal but O'Friel scored back-to-back in a 1:19 span to put Pfeiffer on top 11-8. After the Quakers scored, O'Friel's last goal of the contest was the clincher.
The Quakers added a pair of late goals but couldn't complete the comeback.
