Women's Lacrosse Falls in ECAC Quarterfinal

ARLINGTON, VA. -- In their first ECAC Tournament appearance in program history, the Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (11-2) saw its 10 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of defending ECAC Champion Marymount (10-9) on Wednesday evening.

Molly O'Friel ended her brilliant career with a six-goal outburst to give her 91 goals in just 12 games played this year. O'Friel's 179 career goals ranks her second in program history and her 230 career points also rank her second.

Josie Lent finished the game with eight ground balls and six caused turnovers. The senior closes her career in fourth all-time with 168 ground balls and her 122 caused turnovers places her second in the record book.

The Saints scored nine of the first 11 goals in the game and never looked back. The Falcons battled until the end and cut the deficit to 14-8 thanks to a late scoring barrage from O'Friel who scored three times in the last eight minutes of the game.

Emily James suffered her first loss of the season in goal as the senior made seven saves.

Pfeiffer held a 20-19 advantage in ground balls. Marymount finished with a slight advantage in shots but held a 15-8 lead in draw controls.

The loss wraps up the season for the Falcons who had a tremendous year under first-year head coach Jenn Flaherty.
