Pfeiffer Women's Lacrosse Rallies To Down Guilford in Opener
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 27, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse team rallied from an 11-4 deficit to down visiting Guilford College 13-12 at Lefko Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Pfeiffer scored nine unanswered goals in the second half to rally from an 11-4 deficit to take the 13-12 win in their season opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Visiting Guilford jumped ahead 6-2 midway through the first half. Pfeiffer's goals came at the 28:33 mark when Startraya Galloway (Winston-Salem, N.C.) opened the scoring. After Guilford tied it up at 1-1, Pfeiffer's Meagan Bourque (Seabrook, Texas) scored on an assist from Gabby Bosak (Charleston, S.C.) to go ahead 2-1. Guilford then reeled off five straight goals to take the 6-2 lead.
Bourque added a goal of an assist from Galloway, but Guilford went up 8-3 before Bourque netted her third goal of the half to provide the 8-4 margin.
The Quakers scored the first three goals of the second half, all within a three-minute span to go up 11-4 at the 25:48 mark.
Pfeiffer then went on a tear, scoring nine unanswered goals to take the 13-11 lead. In that span, Pfeiffer scorers included Starneice Galloway (Winston-Salem, N.C.) on an assist from goalkeeper Sam Hanlon (Summerfield, N.C.). Kaley Hyatt (St. Cloud, Fla.) added an unassisted goal while Startyaya Galloway and Hailey Metzger (Naples, Fla.), with Hyatt providing the assist on both goals.
Bourque added two back-to-back goals, one unassisted and one from a free position opportunity to pull the Falcons to within 11-10 at the 10:10 mark. Hyatt tied the game at 11-11 on a free position goal while the Galloway sisters combined for a goal, with Starniece receiving the pass from Startraya to go ahead 12-11 with 8:49 left. Startraya added another goal at 6:30 to put Pfeiffer up 13-11. Guilford broke the scoring string of the Falcons, adding a goal at the 1:02 mark to provide the 13-12 final.
The Falcons will hit the road, playing at Brevard on March 9th at 2:00 p.m.
