BANNER ELK, N.C. - Lees-McRae College put up a four-goal second half en route to a 5-0 shutout victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. A late tally in the first half started the scoring as the Bobcats improve to 7-3-1 overall, 6-1 in league play while the Lady Falcons drop to 5-6, 4-2.
Erica Allen scored the first of her two goals on the day with 1:52 to play in the first half. After the break, LeeAnn Sullivan found the back of the net just 39 seconds into the second stanza. Later in the 69th minute, Mary Beth Sullivan found the corner of the net before Allen and Sarah Mahar rounded out scoring over the final 12 minutes.
Lees-McRae took 16 shots on the day, 12 on frame while the Lady Falcons took four and three. Pfeiffer did have four corner kick opportunity being unable to cash in on the set pieces.
The Lady Falcons will now head to North Greenville for a matchup with the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
