Falcons Drop Third Straight

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's soccer team (1-3) dropped its third straight match, falling to nationally ranked Johns Hopkins (3-0-1) by a final count of 5-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jays entered today's contest ranked No. 13 in the NSCAA Preseason rankings and dominated the first meeting between the two programs in the finale of the 2017 Espirit DIII Tournament hosted by Meredith College.  

Johns Hopkins held a commanding 27-6 advantage in shots on the afternoon. The Blue Jays opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Riley O'Toole scored an unassisted goal. 14 minutes later, O'Toole scored her second of the match and third of the season to give her squad a 2-0 advantage. With 39 seconds left in the opening stanza, Maddy Rocks put one in the back of the net to send the Blue Jays into the break with a 3-0 lead.

O'Toole completed the hat trick in the 54th minute and Johns Hopkins would add one more goal in the 79th minute. 

Sophomore Kaley Hyatt matched a season-high with 11 saves in the losing effort. Meredith Manson paced the Falcons with three shots and two shots on goal. 

Following the match, Hyatt, Manson and Gabrielle Ligas were selected to the All-Tournament Team. 

The Falcons look to end their three game skid on Wednesday night when they travel to Brevard for a 7 p.m. match.
