Three Records Fall as Track and Field Competes at Finn Pincus Invitational

Salem, Va.-  The Pfeiffer men's and women's track and field team competed in the Finn Pincus Invitational at the Cregger Center, on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, Va.

Senior Matthew Chavers led the way for the Falcons, winning the weight throw for the second consecutive week. Chavers won the event with a throw of 15.84m (51' 11.75"). 

Three school records fell on the day, and multiple top 5 performances were turned in. 

The men and women's 1000m indoor school records were broken on the day. Freshman Devon Williams ran a 2:39.64 on the way to a 4th place finish. With a time conversion for a flat track, Williams time was good enough to qualify him for the ECAC Indoor Championships. 

Senior Jayde Kemp ran a 3:18.56 just edging junior teammate Cassidy Hooper's 3:18.58 to set the record.

Williams recorded another top 5 finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:02.45, which was good for 3rd place. 

The last school record came in the final event as the men's 4x400m team of Tevin Colson, Xavier Huntley, Dontavius Monroe and Colby Avins ran a 3:37.60.

Other highlights of the day included Junior Sean Bryant running a 7.13 in the 60m dash which qualifies him for the ECAC Indoor Championships in March.

Freshman Chevalier Blaire, made her first final of her career in the women's weight throw finishing 7th with a throw of 12.16m (39' 10.75")

On Friday night, freshman Sully Hudson ran to a 7th place finish in the men's 5000m run. Hudson ran a time of 17:10.83.

The Falcons will return to action on February 8th, as they compete at the JDL Team Challenge, in Winston-Salem, NC at the JDL Fast Track.
