Pfeiffer Volleyball Falls to Piedmont International in Five-Set Nail Biter
Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team dropped a five-set nail biter to visiting Piedmont International University in Merner Gym on Thursday night.

Piedmont International held Pfeiffer to a .081 hitting percentage while forcing 25 Falcon attacking errors on the match. Pfeiffer also had a good night defensively, as they forced the Bruins into 26 errors and limiting the opposition to just a .146 percentage. Both teams fared well at the net, as Pfeiffer had 17 total blocks compared to PIU's 15.
Freshman Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) continued her early season success, as she finished with eight kills, six block assists and two solo blocks. Sophomore teammate Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) once again led the way offensively for the Falcons, as she finished with 10 kills. She also managed an ace and had seven digs.
Bri Weber (Jesup, Iowa) and freshman Maddie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.) each had seven kills and two digs each.
Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) dished a team-best 26 assists while
Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) made 17 digs. Senior Lili Jaramillo (Oakboro, N.C.) had 10 digs to round out double-digit performances by the Falcons.
PIU's Olivia Bullins led all players with 19 kills.
Pfeiffer will continue their home stand on Saturday, as they host a tri-match with Brevard and Toccoa Falls. First serve against Brevard will be at Noon followed by a 4:00 p.m. matchup with Toccoa Falls.
